In land surveying, we always say that each assignment presents its unique challenges and revelations. Recently, we carried out a land survey in the vibrant locale of Odorangunshi Eredo, Epe. What transpired during this four hour endeavor not only encapsulates the essence of our profession but also underscored the importance of precision in our craft while illuminating the intricacies of land ownership, and governmental regulations/restrictions.

More so, what made this particular assignment more noteworthy was the fact that our client was a returning one, a testament to the quality of service we strive to deliver. The task at hand was to map out a portion of land for this client and register the survey if the land at Alausa. \

The journey to the site was smooth, thanks to well-established routes, facilitating timely arrival and efficient utilization of resources.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by dry land, a relief in a region where unpredictable weather can often complicate surveys. However, as seasoned professionals, we understand that challenges often lurk beneath the surface and true to form, during the survey, it became apparent that the task at hand was not without its complexities.

The initial plan was to carve out a portion of land from an existing acre, a routine task for seasoned surveyors. However, meticulous examination revealed that the portion carved out was already earmarked by the Lagos state government as a designated railway passage, necessitating a change in location.

Adapting to unforeseen circumstances is a hallmark of professionalism, and the team rose to the occasion. After careful consideration, we proposed an alternative solution: carving out a new portion of land from the center of the existing acre. To our relief, the client embraced this suggestion wholeheartedly, demonstrating trust in our judgment and expertise. This proposal not only circumvented the issues that our client could have faced with government intervention or restriction but also ensured the client’s objectives were met.

Throughout the survey, the SinoGNSS N2 and N3 equipment proved to be indispensable companions, providing accuracy and reliability throughout the survey work. Their performance underscored the importance of employing cutting-edge technology in modern surveying endeavors.

Beyond the technical aspects, the absence of complications with Omonile—a term referring to local landowners— further facilitated smooth progress. This factor, often unpredictable in land surveying ventures, especially in Lagos, contributed to the overall efficiency and satisfaction of the expedition.

We concluded the survey at Epe, leaving behind a mapped landscape and a satisfied client. Reflecting on the day’s events, it became evident that success in land surveying is not merely about measurements and maps; it’s about navigating challenges with expertise, integrity, and a commitment to client satisfaction.
