A Survey Plan is the primary product of a Survey. According to the Cadastral Survey Regulations, a Survey is any survey exercise executed in connection with any land prepared under the law for any registrable instrument or judgement or order of court and any other survey as may be defined from time to time by SURCON (Surveyors Council of Nigeria.)
It can only be prepared by a Registered Surveyor.
The Survey Plan shows the following information:
- The title of the survey (name of the owner)
- The location of the land
- The area of the land
- The status of the land (especially for Lagos survey plans)
- Consent no. (If the land is under government acquisition )
- The boundary of land
- The boundary beacons
- Bearings to the nearest minute of arc and distances (in meters) to the nearest second decimal place.
- The plan number
- The surveyors address, seal and signature
A Survey Plan is the primary document you receive from your Land Surveyor after he has completed the survey of your land. It is a very important document and it is required for almost all land transactions. You need it for deed preparation, confirmation of record copy submission, land information certificate processing, title processing, transfer of title, obtaining of loan from bank, mortgage processing etc.
